ISTM 633 The Business of Entertainment, Media, and Sports in the Digital Age (2)


In this new digital age, entertainment, media, and sports (EMS) firms must increasingly turn their attention to the digital transformation underway in the industry. Digital distribution, cloud computing, social media, and mobile technologies are transforming the way businesses operate in the industry. At the same time, managers must be alert to the external forces that shape their technological innovations. The increasing complexity for EMS firms to complete in this dynamic environment offers opportunities, but it also comes with significant risks. In this course, students will develop a deep understanding of the strategic issues surrounding digital innovation in the M&E industry. In addition, it examines ways in which managers and executives can employ leading practices to compete. Leading in such a dynamic marketplace and in a creative environment with celebrities, artists, and athletes is challenging and complex, and this course provides some guidelines and insights on how to navigate this complexity.
