Admission Requirements for the Online Programs

Graduate Degree Programs

The admission process is designed to ensure consistency, equity, and integrity in the evaluation of each applicant.  Application requirements are established to provide the Admission Committee the pertinent information needed to make a thoughtful determination regarding candidates’ readiness and suitability for the program to which they have applied. The admission review process is holistic in nature, taking into consideration the full range of academic, personal, and professional backgrounds and attributes of each applicant.

As a minimum eligibility requirement for Pepperdine Graziadio graduate degree programs, candidates must have earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited  U.S. college or university or the foreign equivalent.  Non-U.S. academic institutions must be accredited by the ministry of education or officially recognized accrediting bodies from their respective countries.

Note for international students: The online programs have an in-person, U.S. residency component. As such, Pepperdine University may sponsor visas for the residency portion of the program. At the conclusion of the residency, students will have a 15-day grace period to return to their home country to complete the remainder of their program remotely.

Under these arrangements, the Graziadio Business School guarantees admission of community college students to the Online BSM Program based on the following criteria:

  • Completion of a minimum of 60 Graziadio School-transferable semester units, which include at least 30 units of general education content (i.e., English Composition, college math, social science, humanities, and biological/physical science)
  • A cumulative grade point average of 2.80 or higher
  • A minimum of two years of full-time (30 hours or more per week) work experience

Leave of Absence

A leave of absence (LOA) may be granted during a student’s course of study. A letter or e-mail from the student’s Pepperdine e-mail account must be submitted to the Online Program Office, indicating the reason for the leave and the expected term in which the student will return. An LOA may be granted for no more than two consecutive trimesters. If the LOA is expected to exceed two consecutive trimesters, the student must submit a petition for review by the Program Committee. Inquiries pertaining to LOA’s may be directed to a program advisor in the Online Program Office. International students in F-1 visa status must obtain clearance from the Office of International Student Services before taking a leave of absence.

Program Requirements

Each program has a differentiated curriculum design with a specific set of courses to meet its degree requirements. Students enrolled in a program that is billed per-unit tuition may not enroll in courses that do not meet or exceed the degree completion requirements as outlined in the catalog. Therefore, students are expected to complete their coursework in the program plan and modality they had chosen upon program entrance. Under compelling and verifiable circumstances, students may request to complete a course in a different program or modality that is deemed to be equivalent to a course in the student’s program requirement. Please note cross enrollment in a course offered for a different program may result in an increased tuition cost and permanent modification of a student’s program plan. Prior to the formal submission of the request, students should consult with their advisor to understand the potential impact of completing the requested course on their overall program cost and completion plan. The request should be directed to the Program Office and supporting documentation is required. Approval is not guaranteed.
