ACCT 620 Accounting (3) This course combines financial and managerial accounting concepts to provide students with a comprehensive foundation in accounting. Students will work hands-on with a wide range of concepts utilized in practice to accomplish these functions. Students will be able to actively and effectively apply the concepts and tools, understand and interpret them through critical analyses, and be able to formulate sound business decisions as a result. The financial accounting component is designed to provide tools to understand and analyze corporate financial reports, a foundation in basic preparation techniques for financial statements, and an appreciation of the usefulness and the limitations of financial statements. The managerial accounting component’s underlying theme is to build students’ understanding of the three primary internal functions of the corporate accounting/finance team: planning operations, controlling activities, and decision-making.
