FINC 634 The Management of Financial Risk (2)


The objective of this course is to examine the important financial characteristics of derivative securities such as forward, futures, and options contracts and their roles in managing individual and corporate financial risk. Among the topics explored for each of these securities are the history and evolution of formalized exchanges, the mechanics of each contact, price relationships, and the theory and practice of hedging. Basic valuation concepts as well as applications and strategies will be emphasized. Prerequisite(s): Full-Time– ACCT 652 Accounting Information and Control Systems (4)  and FINC 614 Corporate Finance (4)  or FINC 629 Managerial Finance (3) . Part-Time-FINC 655 Financial Management of the Firm (4)  or FINC 603 Managing Corporate Financial Resources (4)
