FINC 624 Mergers and Acquisitions (2) The purpose of this course is to study the motives for control transactions and the process by which economic resources are reallocated. Among the transactions studied are mergers, acquisitions, hostile takeovers, going private transactions (LBOs and MBOs), asset restructuring, and voluntary and involuntary liquidation. Methods for developing takeover defenses also are examined. The influences of the legal and regulatory environment as well as competition in input and product markets are considered in developing a framework for understanding merger waves and industry consolidations. Prerequisite(s): FINC 623 Business Valuation (2) .
