FINC 634 The Management of Financial Risk (2)


The objective of this course is to examine the important financial characteristics of derivative securities such as forward, futures, and options contracts and their roles in managing individual and corporate financial risk. Among the topics explored for each of these securities are the history and evolution of formalized exchanges, the mechanics of each contact, price relationships, and the theory and practice of hedging. Basic valuation concepts as well as applications and strategies will be emphasized. Prerequisite(s): Full-Time-ACCT 602 Cost Accounting (2)  or equivalent and FINC 604 Managerial Finance (2)  or FINC 614 Finance (4)  and FINC 614B Advanced Financial Management (2)  . Fully Employed- FINC 655 Financial Management of the Firm (4)  or ACCT 500 Advanced Topics: Accounting (2)  and FINC 502 Advanced Topics: Finance (2) .
