ECNM 648 The Global Economic Environment (2) The principal objective of this course is to prepare students to better understand the external global macroeconomic environment in order to recognize the opportunities and threats facing firms competing in the global economy. The course will examine contemporary economic issues underlying the global economy and will cover selected economies from the Americas, Asia, and Europe. It will further examine the growth and economic development of emerging economies such as the BRICs (Brazil, Russia, India, and China). The interplay between economic, social, and environmental issues will be examined. Prerequisite(s): Full-Time–ECNM 612 Macroeconomic Analysis (2) or ECNM 624 Prices, Profits, and the Market Economy (3) .
