ECNM 478 International Business (4)


This course provides an overview of the essential elements of international business. To conduct business globally, managers need to know what makes international business different from domestic business. Areas of focus will include the major theories explaining international business transactions, the social and cultural effects of doing business in a different country, and general operating concerns. The course will be presented from the real-world manager’s perspective. Prerequisite(s): ECNM 477 National Economic Markets (4) .

Student Learning Outcomes
  1. The student will have a more global orientation. The student will be able to identify the relevant cultural social dimensions of a country other than the U.S., the relevant economic conditions affecting doing business in a country other than in the U.S., and be able to create a political risk assessment grid in doing business in a country other than the U.S.
  2. The business student will vicariously experience the dynamic and interactive forces at work in conducting business internationally.
  3. Create a business plan to take a product internationally using research methods as well a material covered in class.
