Admission Requirements for the Online Programs

Graduate Degree Programs

The Online Graduate Program application process is intended to ensure a good fit between the program’s objectives and the applicant’s experience, qualifications and potential.  Admission decisions consider previous grade point average, work experience, and test scores, among other factors.  Each applicant is assessed in a holistic way; no single criterion controls the admission decision.

To be considered eligible for admission to the program, an applicant must have an undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited four-year college/university or foreign institution.  International academic institutions must be accredited by the ministry of education or accrediting bodies from their respective countries.

Master of Business Administration (MBA) Admission Requirements

Online MBA
  1. A completed online Application for Admission with a specified essay, resume and the nonrefundable application fee must be submitted electronically to the Graziadio Business School Admission Office.
  2. An official transcript with your posted baccalaureate degree must be provided. All transcripts reflecting in-progress and/or completed coursework toward your undergraduate degree(s) must be submitted to the Graziadio School Admission Office.  The official transcript(s) must be issued by the school Registrar(s) and provided in a sealed envelope.  If you have not completed your baccalaureate degree at the time of application, submit a current transcript.
  3. A Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or Graduate Record Examination (GRE) taken within the last five years is required.  The Admission committee may choose to waive the GMAT/GRE for applicants who have at least three years of full-time work experience and satisfy at least one of the following: (a) have a quantitative B.S. degree in science, technology, engineering, math (STEM), finance, or accounting, (b) have a degree in economics that is quantitative in nature, (c) completed an undergraduate Statistics or Calculus course with a grade of “B” or better, (d) graduated from Graziadio’s BSM program, (e) graduated from Seaver College at Pepperdine University with a B.S. degree in Business.
  4. Applicants either must be currently employed or must have a minimum of two years of work experience or its equivalent
  5. Applicants who completed work outside of the United States or are not United States citizens/permanent residents must also meet the international student admission requirements listed in the Admission Information  section of the catalog.

Master of Science (MS) Admission Requirements

Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA)
  1. A completed online Application for Admission with a specified essay, resume and the nonrefundable application fee must be submitted electronically to the Graziadio Business School Admission Office.
  2. An official transcript with your posted baccalaureate degree must be provided. All transcripts reflecting in-progress and/or completed coursework toward your undergraduate degree(s) must be submitted to the Graziadio School Admission Office.  The official transcript(s) must be issued by the school Registrar(s) and provided in a sealed envelope. If you have not completed your baccalaureate degree at the time of application, submit a current transcript.
  3. A Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or Graduate Record Examination (GRE) taken within the last five years is required.
  4. Applicants must have a minimum of three years of work experience.
  5. Applicants who completed work outside of the United States or are not United States citizens/permanent residents must also meet the international student admission requirements listed in the Admission Information  section of the catalog.
Master of Science in Human Resources (MSHR)
  1. A completed online Application for Admission with a specified essay, resume and the nonrefundable application fee must be submitted electronically to the Graziadio Business School Admission Office.
  2. An official transcript with your posted baccalaureate degree must be provided. All transcripts reflecting in-progress and/or completed coursework toward your undergraduate degree(s) must be submitted to the Graziadio School Admission Office.  The official transcript(s) must be issued by the school Registrar(s) and provided in a sealed envelope. If you have not completed your baccalaureate degree at the time of application, submit a current transcript.
  3. Applicants must have a minimum of two years of work experience or its equivalent.

Master of Science in Management and Leadership (MSML)
  1. A completed online Application for Admission with a specified essay, resume and the nonrefundable application fee must be submitted electronically to the Graziadio Business School Admission Office.
  2. An official transcript with your posted baccalaureate degree must be provided. All transcripts reflecting in-progress and/or completed coursework toward your undergraduate degree(s) must be submitted to the Graziadio School Admission Office.  The official transcript(s) must be issued by the school Registrar(s) and provided in a sealed envelope. If you have not completed your baccalaureate degree at the time of application, submit a current transcript.
  3. A minimum of five years of organizational experience is recommended
  4. The Graziadio Business School reserves the right to require an applicant to attain an acceptable score on either the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), or the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).
  5. Applicants who completed work outside of the United States or are not United States citizens/permanent residents must also meet the international student admission requirements listed in the Admission Information  section of the catalog.

Notification of Admission

The Admission Office will inform the applicant of the status of the application. It is the applicant’s responsibility to provide all required admission documents by published deadlines.

Admission to Pepperdine University will not be considered final until the admission file is complete even when acceptance to the program may allow a 45 day enrollment as an unclassified student. Students will not be allowed to continue beyond the first term until all official documents have been received. Credits earned while on unclassified status do not guarantee student’s admission. Admission will be confirmed by a letter from the associate dean.

Undergraduate Degree Program

Bachelor of Science Admission Requirements

BS in Management

The BSM application process is intended to ensure a good fit between the program’s objectives and the applicant’s experience, qualifications and potential. Each applicant is assessed in a holistic way; no single criterion controls the admission decision.

To be considered eligible for admission to the BSM program applicants must have completed a minimum of 60 transferable semester units or have completed an AA/AS degree with a grade point average from an accredited college/university or from approved agencies administering college tests. The transfer units must fulfill at least 30 units of general studies requirements including English Composition and college level mathematics. Applicants should be employed on a full-time basis or have significant prior work experience in order to relate to the other students and the material covered in the program.

The admission decision is based on past academic performance measured by grade point average, completed transferable course work, work experience and an essay.

The following are requirements for admission to the BSM Program:

  1. A completed online Application for Admission along with a specified essay, resume and a $50 payment for the nonrefundable application fee must be submitted.
  2. Official transcripts from all colleges and universities previously attended are required.  All transcripts reflecting in-progress and/or completed coursework toward you undergraduate degree(s) must be submitted to the Graziadio Business School Admission Office. The official transcript(s) must be issued by the school Registrar(s) and provided in a sealed envelope.
  3. Applicants who completed coursework outside of the United States or are not United States citizens/permanent residents must also meet the international student admission requirements listed in the Admission Information  section of the catalog.

Transfer Admission Guarantee

The Graziadio Business School has developed Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) and Course Transfer and Articulation (CTA) agreements with community colleges in the Southern California area. Under these agreements, the Graziadio Business School guarantees admission of community college students to the BSM Program if the student satisfies the following requirements:

  • Completes a minimum of 60 Graziadio School-transferable semester units with an cumulative grade point average of 2.80 or better
  • Completes at least 30 semester units of Graziadio School-required general studies units
  • Has accumulated a minimum of three years of full-time business/professional work experience

BSM course waivers may be approved prior to admission based on each participating school’s TAG and CTA agreements. Additional requirements and exceptions may apply.

Leave of Absence

A leave of absence (LOA) may be granted during a student’s course of study. A letter or e-mail from the student’s Pepperdine e-mail account must be submitted to the Online Program Office, indicating the reason for the leave and the expected term in which the student will return. An LOA may be granted for no more than two consecutive trimesters. If the LOA is expected to exceed two consecutive trimesters, the student must submit a petition for review by the Program Committee. Inquiries pertaining to LOA’s may be directed to a program advisor in the Online Program Office. International students in F-1 visa status must obtain clearance from the Office of International Student Services before taking a leave of absence.
